OK, I just had an hour long conversation (well it wasn't quite an hour) with a co-worker weighing the Pros and Cons of a replicator vs. a transporter. And in typical fashion, we came to no conclusion.
I guess if I had to choose I would go with the transporter. I would love to travel around and check out cool old places and buildings. The other good thing about visiting all of those places would be the friend I would make.
There is a series of Calvin & Hobbes comics which Calvin creates a duplicator of sorts. He instantly clones himself and almost equally as quick realizes the complications of multiples.
Both options have their advantages.
I think I would choose a transporter because the adventurer in me finds the possibilites fabulous.
I would be sure to date someone with a duplicator though.

A replicator of course! Think of all the In-N-Out burgers you could create with that! Not to mention an never-ending supply of Marshmallow Peeps.
